About
Susan Hall studied at St. Martin's College and graduated from Lancaster University in 2000 with a BA (Hons) in Art and Design with Qualified Teaching Status. She has spent the last 15 years teaching in primary schools around the UK. The last 7 years of her career have been within senior management positions.
Susan has continued her interest in Art and Design throughout her teaching career and has participated in a wide range of art and craft courses including quilling, bobbin lace making and life drawing. She has also gained her City and Guilds qualification in Floral Art.

Children's Parties
Paint Pots and Palettes provide art and craft parties for children up to the age of 12. We can customise parties to meet your requirements regarding bespoke themes and media. We provide 1 or 2 art activities which last between 1/2 and hour and 3/4 of and hour, and of course themed games and music. Parties can be brought to your home or to a venue of your choosing.
Parties Prices
(Minimum number of children – 8 children)

£7.99 per child for one 45 minute activity
OR
£9.50 per child for two 30 minute activities
Both options include all art materials and personalised, themed invitations.

Art Classes / Lessons
Paint Pots and Palettes provide art and craft lessons for children up to the age of 12 across South Ayrshire on a weekly basis - Ayr, Troon, Prestwick. We use a skills based approach, providing activities that teach new skills and allow children to practice those skills in different media or subjects.

Events and Outreach
Paint Pots and Palettes can provide art and craft activities for children up to the age of 12 at various events – Fairs, festivals, weddings etc. Our most recent event was the Ayr Flower Festival.

We can also bring our services to care homes, nursing homes etc.

Age 4-6
Children explore colour mixing, creating as many colours as they can using just the primary colours, red, blue and yellow. They learn to drag the colour across the page to form stripes. They then move onto making different shades of colour without using white or black, and finally use their own colours to fill a shaped piece of paper with colour.
Age 7-9
Children learn to draw a bird using basic shapes. They then mix their own colours using only the primary colours, red, blue and yellow, to paint their bird. They use oil pastels to add detail to create texture.
Age 10-12
Children look at the work of Seurat who used a pointillism style. They experiment using primary colours next to each other the to create the illusion of secondary colours. They then use this technique to create a sunflower image.
Age 10-12
Children look at Picasso’s Le Coq and create their own version using chalk and oil pastels. Children will learn to blend chalk pastels and add detail using oil pastels.
Age 4-6
Children use one paint brush and black paint to make as many different marks as possible. They fill their page with their different marks. They then use the primary colours to mix their own colours and fill the negative spaces between their marks with colour.
Age 7-9
Children look at flowers, especially noticing the different shaped petals. They learn to draw a basic flower shape using maker pens. They then fill their page with flowers thinking about the size and placement of each flower. They add colour by mixing their own colours.
Age 7-9
Children paint the basic outline of a robot. They mix their own shades of grey and then add a tint to their painting to create a 3D effect. They then use marker pens to add detail to their robot.
Age 4-6
Children learn how to create a graded background by adding stripes of colour. They learn how the draw a jellyfish using chalk pastels and add further detail using oil pastels.
Age 10-12
Children learn how to weave using paper. They think about colour using a colour wheel and create a design. They then use fabrics to weave a coaster, whilst thinking about texture and colour.
